In the year 1830, Charles Christofle, a jeweler by trade, founds the House of Christofle.

Christofle purchases a patent for electroplating for gilding and silvering in 1842, opening the first factories using electricity in France.

The House then becomes silversmith and has since then expanded to home and jewellery collections.
