‘Affogato’ means ‘drowned’ in Italian and here refers to covering gelato with coffee. Rich and sweet, and by turns hot and cold, affogato coffee is more than a drink; it’s a satisfying dessert. What a delicious way to bring family and friends together and encourage enjoyable conversations!

Bodum French Press x Affogato Coffee Dessert

Traditional versions call for espresso shots; by using French press coffee instead, you create a more filling treat. We recommend a dark Italian or French roast, as the beans possess a chocolaty flavour that complements the gelato and liqueur’s creaminess. As our French press coffee makers don’t require paper filters, nothing stands between you and the ground beans’ natural oils.

STEP BY STEP

  1. Add the gelato to four large Pavina® double wall glasses – their size and shape ensures they’re perfect for serving sundae-style desserts, as well as coffee (or a mixture of the two!).
  2. Pour the coffee and liqueur over the gelato.
  3. Enjoy! All of us here at Bodum and Garden Barn, Inc. wish you a happy – and tasty – Christmas!
